Research Update, September 2020

The research at Stanford University began in earnest this past summer.  A collaboration between the Barron and Sunwoo Labs is the perfect combination of skills in innate immunity and cancer research.  Our PI, Dr. Barron and our Post Doc investigator Nina Horowitz are in the process of expanding natural killer (NK) cells in order to test their efficacy against targeted cells including cancer cells and eventually and specifically the H3K27M mutation. The work includes augmenting innate immunity with specific peptides to enhance their killer qualities. The work will include in vitro and in vivo testing. We then hope to move into further trials including human trials with an ultimate goal to commercialize a treatment for DMG and DIPG patients.
